Dangerously Purposed

A cracked glass, a broken jar. How do you unbreak it? How will you fix it?
We cannot unbreak a broken jar. We can try to fix it and put it together. But when that happens, it is not the same vessel. It is far off from its original shape, size and form.
That’s what brokenness can do. And we cannot undo it. How I wish that a time machine can pick me and drop me off to another place and time. Not the part where the jar breaks. Take me back to when it is undone.
Back where the Potter collects the mud. He sprinkles with water at just about the right amount. Where it becomes pliable. A moldable clay that can wrap around the potter’s skillful hands. He carefully forms and shapes so intentionally as he runs me through the wheel, perfecting the vessel that I can become. He signs his name in discrete places. Where he can mark my authenticity under his care. He then forges, a jar as I almost am, under high temperatures. In such a way that I can permanently transform into his intricately design.
Life happens and we can’t help it. When things beyond our control takes the upper hand. I don’t know about yours but my vessel has been broken. Betrayal cuts through the already cracked crevices of my heart. Broken heart and wounded soul, how can I be made whole?
Let's step back into the time machine.Back to when the jar breaks and all that’s left are broken pieces. Please understand that there is hope.We can be fixed and put together again.
We may be far from our desirable form. The pain leaves us traces of scars . The remains of the past seep through our cracks. Bitter memories resurface when we look from within.
Forgiveness seals the deal between heaven and earth. Let's reconcile ourselves with our past mistakes. But we can’t be friends with the past anymore. We can choose it no longer to be a fine company. We may carry the scars many times over but the adhesion serves us healing from a primary closure.
Gather the broken pieces although it’s nearly recognizable. Include the sharp edges and the crushed parts, too. You pick up the same jar but in shattered pieces. The one vessel in different shapes and portions. Don’t hesitate to pick it up one piece at a time. Recall the feeling but forgive it each time.
And the imprint of the Potter’s hand? He signed the vessel with his own hand. The guaranteed trademark was this. Everything else the vessel cannot hold together, the Potter carries over the rest of those that we can’t handle.
That’s how you are dangerously purposed. When you pick up the pieces. Undo what’s done. Unbreak what’s broken. Forgive the unforgiven.
Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8
